Air Spring

 

Air springs originated in the 19th century and were used early in the shock absorption of mechanical equipment. Because of its many advantages, it has been widely used in contemporary cars, trucks and industrial machinery.

 

The air spring is to encapsulate the load-bearing air column in a container composed of rubber and cord under the condition of following the construction principle of the tire. The cord can withstand the air pressure, while the rubber prevents air leakage and provides a protective shell.

The cord distribution characteristics of the rubber wiring airbag body are as follows


(1) The cord layer is an even number, and the cords at any point are always distributed in pairs at the symmetrical position of the meridian at the β cord angle, which is variable and is a function of the radius r of the parallel circle, that is, β=B ( ).
(2) Since the cords are made of long nylon or long polyester, it can be known from the continuity that the total amount of cords passing through each parallel circular section is equal. Since the radii of the parallel circles vary, so does the cord density.
Therefore, the geometry, material and load of the rubber bladder are all axisymmetric. And because the wall thickness of the rubber airbag is generally thin, it can be assumed in the structural analysis:
①The body of the rubber airbag and its individual layers are in a state of generalized plane stress:
②Ignore the influence of the airbag bending and torsional stiffness of the cord rubber airbag.
According to this assumption, the rubber airbag becomes a thin film, that is, the corded rubber airbag is simplified into an axisymmetric thin shell structure in the generalized plane stress state, its typical geometry and coordinate system.
